01 · Medical Malpractice Defense Consulting
The medicine decides the case. Know it first.
PMDC gives defense attorneys, hospital risk management and medical liability carriers physician-led, defense-only clinical analysis. It is built into the case from the first call, not bolted on before trial.

Plaintiff cases. We work for the defense only.
“We are not attorneys, but with early knowledge and understanding of the case, we can help with targeted, effective defense before any deposition.”
The Physicians
Built by physicians who have sat in the defendant’s chair.
Medicine and law rarely speak the same language until a lawsuit forces the conversation. By then the record is fixed, the timeline is set and the defense is reacting. PMDC exists to start that conversation early, with physicians who read the chart the way the opposing expert will and explain it the way a jury needs to hear it.

“Both of us have been sued, and both of us prevailed. We know what a claim asks of the physician in the chair, and what the defense team needs from them.”
02 · What We Do
Seven services. One physician team, from the first call.
Early Case Evaluation (the “Quick Look”)
A focused physician read of the claim and the key records, typically within 48 to 72 hours. You learn where the clinical strengths and exposures are before you commit to a strategy.
Comprehensive Medical Record Review
A line-by-line review of the full chart, with a clinical timeline and every discrepancy, late entry and omission flagged. You see what the record supports and where it is vulnerable.
Ongoing Case Strategy Support
A physician available to your defense team as the case develops. We help you read new records, discovery and opposing expert reports as they arrive.
Defendant Physician Preparation
Physician-to-physician preparation for the clinician named in the claim, at the direction of counsel. We help them tell their clinical story clearly, calmly and accurately.
Deposition & Trial Preparation
We help counsel build clinical lines of questioning for fact and expert depositions. Then we help translate the medicine into language a jury can follow.
Expert Witness Coordination & Review
We help identify the right specialty and type of expert, then review expert reports for clinical accuracy and gaps. You go into each expert conversation knowing the medicine.
Independent Medical Opinion (non-testifying)
A candid, confidential physician opinion on standard of care and causation. It is prepared for counsel and stays inside the defense team.
How we are engaged. Our consulting work is done at the direction of defense counsel, as a non-testifying consulting expert, and is structured to be protected as attorney work product.
Testifying expert work is available for Emergency Medicine matters only, under a separate agreement.

Buried in clinical jargon you have to master before the deposition?
We translate the chart into plain language, build the clinical timeline and help you find the questions that matter.
-
Seasoned defense firms
More malpractice files than physician hours to review them?
PMDC works as an extension of your team, with fast early evaluations and full record reviews when a file needs one.
-
Hospital risk management & peer review
Need an independent physician review that holds up?
We give you an outside clinical read on the event and the documentation, organized for your risk or peer review process.
-
Medical liability carriers & claims teams
Need to know early which claims to defend and which to settle?
A Quick Look gives your claims team a physician’s view of the record and the standard of care before strategy is set.
A note on timing
In South Carolina, a Notice of Intent to File Suit starts a short pre-suit window before mandatory mediation. The defense teams that bring in clinical insight during that window are better positioned than the ones that wait for the deposition schedule.
Early clinical review is like getting the imaging before the surgery, not after.
